Kate

Kate is not crawling - yet - but can roll herself anywhere she wants to go. And she is fast! She gets mad if I put her in the exersaucer now - she wants to be free.

These pics came out a little fuzzy, but still cute, I think!

Willa looking pretty

Willa is a funny creature. She is so serious and solemn most of the time. She sits up very properly and watches everything, and I get the sense that she notices all the details. She is also much more quiet than the other two (for which I am SO grateful on many an occasion). But when she does smile, her whole face lights up, and it is transforming! And darn it, I just can't seem to catch that transformation on camera! Oh well, here is a new picture of her looking very pretty.

Time for some Evan pictures

Evan had a big week this week. Gram (my mom) was here visiting, and Evan kept her busy playing go fish, crazy eights, bingo, and various computer games. He doesn't know what to do with himself now that she is gone. Here are a few cute pictures of my photogenic boy:

Ike

There is a family here in Austin that is desperately in need of all of your prayers and good wishes. I don't know them, but I have been following their story, and it is heartbreaking. Little Ike is in surgery today and is fighting for his life. Please send this sweet little boy and his family any prayers you can muster. You can see his story here:

Scenes from dinner

Kate is our champion eater, and will munch on anything we give her - except for fruit. We've tried bananas, peaches, pears and applesauce, and she won't have anything to do with any of it. Go figure. Aren't kids supposed to like sweet things?

Oliver and Willa are still on rice cereal and have not quite mastered the whole eating with a spoon thing, but they are getting there.

Here are a few scenes from dinner a couple of nights ago:

Oliver's turn
No, no, no - yuk
OK, I'll try it again
Hey, that's not half bad
I'm still not so sure
I can do it by myself

Tummy Time

Willa and Oliver are not too crazy about rolling over. They can do it, they just don't feel like it very often. So I have to force them on to their tummies every day, and eventually they get mad enough to roll back over. They hate tummy time, which makes me hate tummy time, but I persevere. Kate, in the meantime, is rolling all over the house.

Surprisingly, Oliver is just as good as Kate at sitting up - he is so close to being able to do it on his own. Willa just topples over. However, she has a second word now - "ba ba" - referring to her bottle. I swear she knows what she's saying!

We've got a tooth!

I finally figured out why Kate has been so ornery lately - she has her first tooth breaking through. Knowing this makes me a little more tolerant of her constant fussing! Thank goodness for this teething toy, which she loves:
And an update - the babies went to the doctor on Monday for Synagis shot #5 and flu shot #2, so we have some new weights for you.

Kate - 18 pounds, 9 ounces
Willa - 16 pounds
Oliver - 15 pounds, 6 ounces

They are looking pretty chubby these days!

Sitting Up

We seem to be hitting a lot of milestones this week. Kate is now sitting up on her own fairly well. After a few minutes she usually topples over on her face, but she is able to sit longer and longer each day. I'm sure she will have it mastered soon.

The cold that has been ravaging our household seems to be on its way out. John definitely had the worst of it, and is still hacking and sneezing a bit. Willa is mostly recovered, but still has a little bit of a cough, and Oliver has had a cough and runny nose, but never had the full croup. Kate was the only one unscathed - maybe she has her big brother's immune system.

First Word!

Mark it on your calendars, folks, Miss Willa has spoken her first word at the tender age of 6 3/4 months! Yes, I know it is hard to believe. Can you guess what her first word was? "Mama." John didn't believe me at first, but then she did it again while he was watching, and he had to concede. We're not talking about a babbling string of "mamamamamama"s but a clear, succinct, two-syllable "mama" while smiling up at me. Thank you, Willa, I will have fun holding this over your Dad for awhile!

Croup!

Well, we took Willa to the after hours clinic yesterday and she officially has the croup. She is in pretty good spirits despite this, but sounds like a barking seal every time she coughs. So far the other two babies seem to be fine.

And one other newsworthy item - yesterday Oliver finally (FINALLY) rolled over. Sorry, I didn't have the camera handy. Way to go Oliver!
